A Spotlight on Youth Mental Wellbeing in Asia | The Hasanah Forum (THF003)

Description

Get a glimpse into the landscape of mental wellbeing among youths in Asia, especially in Malaysia. Depression and anxiety are reportedly higher amongst young people, however, less than half of those with mental illness receive adequate medical care. The gaps in addressing mental health issues, such as a lack of awareness, access to support, and cultural openness to this ‘unseen epidemic’ materially impact youth in different ways. This in turn emphasizes the role of peer support, as well as funding needs to enable scalable and effective solutions, and to reduce the structural barriers in achieving mental wellbeing.
